Specialist Teaching Assistant

Our client’s school is looking to recruit a Specialist Teaching Assistants to support children with additional needs.  The role will include being part of our wider team and supporting pupil’s independent learning and progress.  To work closely with the classroom teacher and assist with delivering plans and 1:1 activities as directed.
 
Job Role Specialist Teaching Assistants:

  • work with the classroom teacher to support pupils' effective, independent learning and progress
  • work with small group and 1;1 activities as directed by the teacher
  • deliver teacher’s plans with other STAs for teacher absence, if required
  • provide cover for colleagues in other areas of the school is necessary
  • support the pupils’ social, emotional and personal development through the implementation of a nurturing environment and agreed behaviour management strategies.
  • prepare resources and the classroom for planned activities.
  • provide support for pupils’ personal care needs (feeding/ intimate care when appropriate) and having due regard to the health, safety and wellbeing of pupils and colleague
  • provide support for pupils’ medical needs as required
  • promote/model appropriate and effective communication skills.
